I wanted to like this book. I love a good shifter story.
However, Rejected By My Alpha Mate leaves a lot to be desired. While it is a quick read, I felt as if there was a lot missing from the story.
To start with, Raven is running through the woods towards the Crescent Moon Pack. Except we never really get much more information than she is running from rogues. The story never goes into any part of her past, it is as if she doesn’t exist before the story begins. Sometimes this works but for this story, I would have liked more. For instance when Raven gets to the pack she gives her name and it seems to be a well-known but extinct family. And this is never mentioned again.
Then a rogue comes into the pack territory saying that he has proof that someone in the pack is a traitor. This gets solved in the next chapter by finding out who it is. But this happens really quickly and doesn’t really wrap up this specific thread during the rest of the book. Instead there is another traitor and it almost feels as if the chapters with the previous traitor was supposed to be deleted and this part now is the actual story.
Then there is the part of the story where the rogues use the information the traitor gave them to attack the pack. Each attack seemed to happen and end very quickly. Likewise the aftermath of each attack was almost glossed over.
Outside of this, it was an okay read. It’s a novella that can be read in one sitting and there was nothing that made me stop reading.
